Another 3.5 km of Noise Barriers to be Built by LTA at 9 Different Locations

Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) will install another 3.5 km of noise barriers to be implemented at nine different locations.

Noise levels around 5 to 10 decibels are expected to be reduced when noise barriers are installed, therefore neaby residents of elevated MRT tracks will benefit and enjoy enhanced living environment, LTA reported.

After the successful projects at Jurong East and Bishan, Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a first contract last December 2013 to install noise barriers about 10 km at 16 different locations.

The second contract of LTA for noise barriers in 3.5 km located at Eunos, Lakeside and Clementi will be applied after site investigations and designs are finished in third quarter of 2015. Works are planned to be completed by 2017 with cost around $17 million.

The installation are currently in progress at Marsiling, Admiralty and Sembawang. Noise barriers when completed will benefit many residents and developments of the said area including Industrial development Proxima @ Gambas.
